Patio 6 Villa

Type
Private villa — interiors
Location
Cairo, Egypt

A dark-timber interior: walnut panelling, book-matched marble and brushed brass, lit almost entirely by lamps and by daylight filtered through full-height sheers. The palette gives up nothing to a wide lens, so the house was photographed room by room, at the height a person actually stands.

Living room with a black arc floor lamp, sculptural sofa and walnut panelling.
Long living room over dark polished marble, timber panels framing the view.
Book-matched marble media wall with a brass-framed mirror return.
Dark corridor lined with glazed steel doors.
Stair hall with a white column and a glass balustrade.
The stair void seen through walnut portals, olive tree lit from below.

The stair void and its olive tree are the one moment of daylight in the plan, and the set is built around them: arrival, the public rooms, the dining table, then the closed doors.

Olive tree and travertine stair framed by a timber opening.
Olive branches against the stair wall and framed artwork.
Stair flight rising past a stone-topped console.
Stair under the skylight, brass uplights along the tread edge.
Living room from the far corner, arc lamp over the sofa.
Living room with the television wall and panelled ceiling.
Sofa and side table with vertical timber fins along the window.
Seating group with a low stone table and pleated curtains.
Sofa corner with a glass vase and a stone bowl on the table.
Long sofa in ivory bouclé with blue glass vessels on the table.
Arc lamp head over the sofa arm, shot close in low light.
Dining room under a cluster pendant, artwork on the panelled wall.
Dining room wide, marble table and curved upholstered chairs.
Dining table from the head, pendant reflected in the stone top.
Marble dining table and curved chairs, seen along its length.
Close detail: ceramic vase and beads on a walnut surface.
Kitchen behind closed glazed steel doors.
The same doors open, kitchen revealed.
Bedroom with an upholstered headboard wall and morning light at the window.
Bedroom glimpsed past a walnut door.
Stair and olive tree framed tight by the timber opening.
The stair under daylight, cool and near-white.
